So, I was wrong....we did have a quote yesterday......David wanted to make a little adjustment to our trailer and needed a cordless drill and bits. There was a Camping place close to our Hotel. He went there and an 84 year old lady was working there. He told her what he needed and she lead him to a shelf where he found exactly what he needed. After he drilled 4 holes, he asked her what he owed her. Her response was, "Pay it Forward, I try to do as much as I can, for as many as I can, for as long as I can," Now about today......
We tried to have the Continental Breakfast at the Hotel.......they were as picky about the dogs as any place we have stayed so far. We sat at the picnic table outside for 3 seconds. Mosquitoes were attacking us. We don't speak Sioux but we decided that Oacoma must mean numerous aggressive mosquitoes. That helped us get a very early start. We headed out interstate 90 with low clouds and rain everywhere but on us. The road was even wet at times. It was a beautiful morning heading west.
The Badlands loop was first on our agenda and I was not prepared for how incredible that area is. Rick said it's like humans aren't supposed to be there. I think everyone should witness the splendor. We saw Prairie Dogs and maybe some kind of Mountain Rams. It is breathtaking winding up and down and around the formations. They kind of look like sandcastles.
Next we went into Wall South Dakota. We shopped around and sat on a bench with the dogs and ate lunch. That's where we heard today's quote. A little girl blonde haired girl with a dimple in her chin, stopped to pet Tia and said, "We're going to Mounta Mushmore."
We went to Mounta Mushmore too and Crazy Horse. They are very interesting, but we all agreed that today's highlight was winding through the Badlands. We have a lot of pictures to share today!
And, you might ask how we got so much done in one day.....well, it's because we got another extra hour....I could get used to that!

Hey....Tom knows that blond saloon girl! Darlene's one smart cookie she's keeping a close eye on that hussy and Rick. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty jealous that you guys got to see so many prairie dogs. If you'll remember, they were my favorite exhibit at the zoo. By the way, your mosquito comment just made me laugh aloud. I read it to my class right now, and one of the girls said, "I see where you get your sense of humor, Ms. Scott."
ReplyDeletePay it forward is always the best policy..it always comes back around. Sounds like you guys are having a great time!
